Remembrance day march in Didsbury. | By Jonathan Allerton Same as each year we join Didsbury Scouts for the annual remeberance march to show our respect to our fallen heroes who we lost during the war. Withington scoutswill be meeting at Didsbury scout hut on school lane opposite the weather spoons and the tram stop at around 10.00 till about 11.30(where we will the march to the library for the service to show our respect. We will then do the short march back to the hut around the corner.
1stWithington Scouts Bonfire 2016. | By Jonathan Allerton So on Wednesday the 2nd of November we will be holding our annual group bonfire run by all our volunteers for the families of 1stWithington Scouts. So if you fancy coming down with the kids we will have a nice warm fire along with plenty of fireworks. We will also be serving refreshments tea/Coffee and juice a swell as hot dogs all to raise money for our group. Doors will open about 6.45 and close about 8.30 (free entry).
PGL Adventure trip 2017. | By Jonathan Allerton Our annual trip to PGL has arrived and we decided to get it in early so we could get as many people going as possible. The cost will be less than last year as we got a small discount. The total cost of the camp this time will be £130. A deposit of £30 will be due by 18th November. No bookings will be accepted after this date as it is set by PGL not us. The final balance by 17th Febuary. We know its alot thats why were giving as much notice as possible and were happy to set up a payment plans. Any problems do speak to us as we dont want people to miss out.
Scouts Summer Camp 2016 | By Jonathan Allerton So after last years successful summer camp we decided to do it again only with more this year so it’s all booked . We will be doing activities such as kayaking,rifle shooting,archery and a campfire everyday where the scouts will cook there own tea.
Scout AGM | By Jonathan Allerton Each year we hold our AGM where we discuss the year and appoint new positions. All parents are invited to come along and have a look and listen and have chat with exec members. We even stretch to having tea and biscuits. 7.45pm @ the scout hut.
Withington Scouts Open Day. | By Jonathan Allerton So on Sunday the 3rd of July between 12 and 3pm we are having our annual free fun open day for all the family at the hut where we will be having a inflatable fun run as well as a giant bouncy castle and bbq in the garden with hot dogs and burgers. Penalty shoot out on the astro turf. In the hut we will have face painting,cake stall and a tombola with lots of fun prizes. There will be a fun craft activity for the kids also. Tea and coffee facilities available all afternoon inside the hut. All the proceeds will go to our scout group. Cubs 100 County Camp. | By Jonathan Allerton So to celebrate Cubs 100th birthday there are loads of different events taking place all year. 1stwithington Cubs will be going to there biggest camp of the year down at Linnet Clough Scout camp over the May bank holiday 27th-30th. There just isn’t enough room to write down everything thats happening that weekend so we will just put a few things down to give you and idea. There will be a High ropes course,zorb football,rifle shooting,archery,disco,go karting,rock climbing and thats just to name a few.
St George’s Day parade. | By Jonathan Allerton So to celebrate St George’s Day we will join some other Scout groups in the annual march. We will be parading from the Scout Hut on Brantingham Rd ( near Withington rd) to the church for a short service and then back to the Scout hut. All Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Young leaders need to be in full, smart uniform which includes dark trousers (no jeans)
